Marketplace rules
Updated August 28, 2026
These are the marketplace rules for OwnerLot. Creating an account, listing a car, or writing in chat means you accept them. Breaking them is a ban: the account is closed, live ads are taken down, and you may not open a new account to get around it.
No dealers
OwnerLot is only for private owners selling their own car. Licensed dealers, wholesalers, auctions, flip lots, brokers, and anyone selling as a business are not allowed. There is no dealer package and no inventory feed. If we see a lot, a storefront, or wholesale stock, the account is banned.
No duplicate listings
One car is one listing. A VIN can be listed once and does not become free for another account after you take the ad down. Do not post the same car twice, clone photos, shuffle pictures, change the title, or list the same VIN from a second login. Duplicate and near-duplicate ads are banned.
Honest city and VIN
Pin the city where the car actually sits. Do not use a bigger metro to get more views. Type the real 17-character VIN. Fake cities, cloned VINs, and reused photos from another listing are a ban.
Account limits
One person gets one account and one phone. A spouse, roommate, or guests on the same Wi‑Fi may each sign up. You may keep up to 3 live personal cars. Stacks of accounts to dodge limits or run a lot are still banned.
What you may list
Personal used cars, pickups, and vans are free. Semis, buses, cranes, dump trucks, boom trucks, and other special equipment cost $12 to publish, or $6 with OwnerLot Pro. You cannot list a crane or tractor as a passenger car to skip the fee — the VIN, make, and body are checked. OwnerLot Pro is $9 a month: it highlights the member card and listings, matching Pro ads show first in search, and equipment listings are $6 instead of $12. A Pro listing still has to match the make, model, city, and filters. It does not buy a slot above a car that is not a match. Promoting a live listing costs $7 for 7 days and places that ad first among the same matching results.
Reviews
After a listing is marked sold and the seller names the buyer, both people may leave one review: 1 to 5 stars and an optional note. Seller rating is from buyers. Buyer rating is from sellers. Reviews show on the member card. Do not put a phone, email, or link in a review.
Chat and photos
Messages and chat photos stay between you and the other owner. Chat photos are kept 60 days. Do not spam, scams, or send contact details in listing text — use the site chat.
Ban
Dealers, duplicate listings, fake VINs, fake cities, photo clones, and extra accounts are a ban. We may remove ads and lock the account without notice. Questions: hello@ownerlotcars.com
